How To Make Pizza Dough At Home
I learnt how you make my own pizza at home from my grandma in oven, it can be daunting but she taught me to ‘make it my own’ . In fact, its very easy especially when you have to make it in oven as opposed to grill you will not have to order it again. They key to a successful homemade pizza it to get all the ingredients and use accurate measurements for the dough. My grandma taught me her own little tricks and I have never changed a thing about it. This home made pizza dough makes one large pizza but I divided the dough into two because my skillet is smaller. The ingredients are:
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup of warm water
7 grams instant dry yeast
1/4 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil

First off, there are so many toppings that go well with any pizza, I work with what I have in the my house. The most important step to remember is that some of them need to be precooked. For example for meat lovers,sausages, chicken, ham,pepperoni, bacon,sliced meat balls need to be cooked. Other toppings like chickpeas, spinach,brocolli and kale needs to be cooked too and well drained. Green peppers, onions, tomatoes, olives do not have to be cooked prior.
For today’s pizza, my toppings include:
Spinach
Brocolli
Tomatoes
Sausages
Parmesan cheese
Pepper flakes
Bacon
Steps: Making Your Own Home Pizza In Oven Oven
Begin by making the pizza dough. In a mixing bowl, add in the flour, yeast, salt and mix with your hands or a cooking stick. If you have a mixer even better it will make your work quicker. Add in water and mix as you go. Do not worry if the dough looks fluffy, it will come together soon. Remember not to need the flour at this time. Pour the olive oil on the dough and cover it. My common practice it to keep the container in a warm place so for one hour to facilitate fermentation. The dough should double in size.
Once the dough doubles in size, knead it, add in flour as needed. You know the dough is ready if it does not stick to your hands. Use a rolling pin and roll the dough into a round or square shape.
However, some chefs hold the dough by its edges and throw it up and down but I can get my head around that (smile) . Feel free to explore other ways and pizza shapes. I prefer a thin crust, so I go all out and make it as thin as I wish. My skillet is small so I divided the dough into two.
Last but not least, transfer the pizza base in a skillet and pre-cook it in oven for 6 to 7 minutes. Carefully remove the skillet from oven and add the toppings, starting with the tomato sauce. I used my homemade tomato sauce, its thick and tasty, use a spoon to spread it evenly.Add all other toppings in any order. Return the skillet in oven and bake for 15 to 17 minutes or until the crust is brown.
Finally, transfer the pizza on a cutting board and enjoy.
