Banza Chickpea Crust

Banza chickpea Pizza crust(garbanzo bean flour)

We mainly make pizza crust out of wheat floor but today we we will be making Banza pizza crust out of chickpea flour. This is also known as Banzu chickpea crust. Chickpea flour is also called garbanzo bean flour and you can find it in the flour section of the supermarket. I used stone ground chickpea flour, its freshly milled from creamy, delicious garbanzo beans. Its a good source of fibre with a sweet rich flavor.

Supreme pizza toppings

The definition of a supreme pizza is non-standard, for example, what constitutes a supreme pizza in canada may include canadian bacon and meatiness, whereas in Australia it may include ground beef, Italian sausage, mushroom, onion, oregano, and pineapple, capcicum (bell peppers), so its pretty ambiguous. My suggestion is go for what you like. The choice for today is:-

3 oval shaped slices of Pineapples
A serving of jalapeno peppers
A serving of olives
1 cup mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Banza pizza crust nutrition

In Western culture, chickpea consumption is somewhat driven through the intake of hummus. Traditional hummus is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and spices.Chickpeas and/or hummus supports the healthy eating patterns recommended by both the Mediterranean-style diet. We used one cup of chickpea flour for the crust.

One cup (92 grams) of chickpea flour contains Calories: 356. Protein: 20 grams. Fat: 6 grams

Steps:

Begin by mixing the flour, 1 tablespoon cooking oil, salt and pepper to taste and water in a mixing bowl, mix well until the flour mixture is completely combined. Set the mixture aside.

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and place a skillet in the oven. Mine is 8 inches but you can use a 10 inch skillet if you want a more thinner crust. Leave it for 2 minutes in the oven then carefully and I mean carefully remove it from the oven, place it on the top oven and grease the skillet with the left over cooking oil. Pour in the batter and and bake for 15 minutes or until set and golden brown. The crust smells like corn meal even though it doesn’t taste like corn meal.

Finally, remove the skillet from the oven and add the pizza toppings. Start with the mozzarella cheese, then pineapple, jalapeno peppers and olives then grate the parmesan cheese over. Broil on high for 3 minutes. Bon Apetite.
